That being said, if you are a parent, it is very important for you to know just how much sleep your kids need to get every single night.
You may or may not already know this, but children do a big amount of developing in their sleep. This is especially the case with babies. And since kids tend to be incredibly active every single day, getting enough sleep every day is very important for them. The amount of sleep that your kids need to get every day largely depends on their age.
When we sleep, our bodies undergo a big transformation. Some body composition experts say that when we sleep, our cells replenish and rebuild, and our internal organs do their work to metabolize energy. When it comes to kids, the body transformation that they experience is on a completely different level!
Newborns and Infants
Babies spend the most of their time sleeping. So, if your baby is one week old, make sure that he or she gets 16 or 17 hours of sleep every single day. And if your baby is between one and four months old, make sure that he or she gets between 14 and 16 hours of sleep on a daily basis. Babies that are between four and 12 months old should sleep for 12-16 hours per day.
Toddlers and Preschoolers
At this stage, kids are even more active, which is why keeping track of their sleep schedule is even more important than before. That being said, one to two-year-old kids should get 12-14 hours of sleep, and three to five-year-old kids should get 11-13 hours of sleep every single day. And once again, make sure to take good care of this schedule.
As the kids grow up, they tend to stay up a little bit longer. However, they still need to get enough sleep each day. That being said, if your kid is 6-12 years old, make sure that he or she gets between 6 and 12 hours of sleep per day.
